Is Sucralose Safe to Use?

We occasionally hear from customers asking about the sweetener we use in some of our products — sucralose. It's a great question! You're trying to take care of your health, and you want to make informed choices. Let’s unpack what sucralose is, and why we chose it with care.

 

What is sucralose?

Sucralose is a calorie-free sweetener that’s sweeter than sugar, allowing us to impart more flavour in smaller quantities for the same results as using a lot of sugar. It’s been widely studied and is approved by leading global food safety authorities, including:

  • The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)
  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Health Canada
  • Food Standards Australia New Zealand

Why we use it?

We use sucralose to help create products that are:

  • Free from added sugar
  • Low in calories
  • Still taste amazing

Many of our customers are looking to support better memory, mood, and mental performance — and they don’t want sugar spikes, crashes, or extra calories. Sucralose allows us to deliver great flavour without compromising your health goals. Sugar is a well known culprit of disease and it isn’t something that aligns with our overall mission at Noobru.

Here are a few of the most common concerns we hear — and what the science really says:

 

🤢 I’ve heard sucralose can cause stomach upset or acid reflux? 

→ There’s no strong evidence linking sucralose to increased stomach acid or reflux. Like many things, some individuals may be more sensitive than others. But most people tolerate sucralose well.

 

📈 Does sucralose spike insulin?

→ Studies show that sucralose has little to no impact on insulin levels — especially compared to sugar. In most people, it doesn’t raise blood sugar or cause a glycemic response.

 

😨 Can people be allergic to sucralose? 

→ True allergic reactions to sucralose are extremely rare. If you ever experience discomfort, stop using it and talk to a healthcare professional — just as you would with any food.

 

🍬 The flavour is just too strong/too sweet!

→ Have you tried diluting the powder with more water? It can soften the taste slightly, and you’re in full control of how diluted you want it. You can also get creative, and perhaps try mixing Noobru with our things such as smoothies.

 

💡 Our tip: If you’re ever unsure how your body responds, try one sachet or serving and observe how you feel. Everyone’s different — and we respect that.
